STATE-OF-THE-ART TECHNOLOGY FOR OUTSTANDING CHIROPRACTIC CARE
The Insight Subluxation Station is the only technology of its kind certified by the NASA Space Foundation. It has been used on astronauts, professional athletes, and Olympic medalists. With it, Dr. Kipp is able to establish a reliable, scientifically valid, quantitative, multidimensional representation of your current state of health and wellness. The technology includes Heart Rate Variability, Neuraltherm™, and Static Electromyography Scans. We utilize this advanced technology because it is our mission to provide the highest quality chiropractic care available in the Encinitas and San Diego area.
HEART RATE VARIABILITY
The Insight Millenium™ Pulse Wave Profiler (PWP) allows Dr. Kipp to measure autonomic nervous system function and to quantify your body’s ability to adapt to stress by calculating Heart Rate Variability (HRV) data. HRV is the beat-to-beat variability of the heart, and provides incredibly valuable information into how the autonomic nervous system (ANS) is functioning. A higher HRV is a good result. Greater variability between heart beats means that the heart is better able to respond to stress, sickness or physical activity. The more adaptable a patient’s heart, the less damage any stress related events will be for overall health and well-being. Low heart rate variability is associated with aging and poor health.
The HRV scan compares the two branches of the ANS: sympathetic versus parasympathetic. The PWP can reveal if these branches are balanced (as they should be), or if one component has become dominant. Proper balance and tone are associated with better adaptability and a healthy lifestyle. Chiropractic adjustments have been shown to improve HRV measurements, balancing the autonomic nervous system. Dr. Kipp can establish a baseline Heart Rate Variability for each patient and track patient progress as they become healthier with chiropractic care.
A healthy HRV scan measures autonomic nervous system function at 100% and is balanced between the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches. A healthy scan depicts a white dot within the green box on the graph.
NEURALTHERM™ SCAN
The patented Insight Neuraltherm Scanner is used to assess the autonomic nervous system (ANS), which controls your organs, glands, and blood vessels. The instrument does this by precisely measuring differences in skin temperature along the spine. Temperature is an accurate indicator as to where stress is building up and how deeply it affects bodily function. The vitally important ANS regulates such functions as digestion, hormone balance, immune system performance, blood pressure, and body temperature. Since proper function of your organs, glands, and blood vessels is essential for optimal health and living well, this test gives Dr. Kipp an accurate reading on how this portion of your nervous system is working and how it is responding to care.
The Insight’s thermal scanner is design to accommodate the different sized spines of adult, adolescents, and kids so results are extremely accurate. If green, blue or red colors appear on the scans, this indicates an abnormal thermal pattern. This state-of-the-art test can detect if stress in your life is adversely affecting your nervous system.
STATIC ELECTROMYOGRAPHY (sEMG)
Static Electromyography (sEMG) is a test that is completed to measure overall muscle tone and balance across the spine. Muscles are controlled by a part of your nervous system known as the motor nerve system, responsible for movement of joints, balance, coordination, and posture. Increased muscle tension and imbalance across the spine is largely due to spinal subluxations (misalignments that place increased stress and irritation on the nerve system). This increased tension can lead to poor posture, pain, headaches, poor balance, and fatigue.
Areas of muscle imbalance are measured and mapped so that changes can be monitored over time. The Insight sEMG technology is similar to the technology used in EKG heart rate measurement machines. One primary difference is that the Insight sensors are 1,000 times more sensitive, since the paraspinal muscles generate less electrical activity than the heart muscle. The sensitivity and accuracy of the Insight technology is unsurpassed! By precisely measuring muscle activity, your progress can be followed as your care progresses making the sEMG a powerful tool for tracking results from chiropractic care. Chiropractic adjustments restore spinal alignment to help reduce muscle tension and increase coordination of your nervous system.
When reviewing scan results, if green, blue or red colors appear on the scans, it indicates an unhealthy and abnormal increase in neuromuscular activity. If yellow color appears on the scans, it indicates an unhealthy and abnormal decrease in neuromuscular activity.
CHIROPRACTIC CORESCORE™
The Insight Subluxation Station provides a comprehensive picture of your neurospinal health with COREscore. COREscore represents one of the biggest breakthroughs in chiropractic assessment in the past 20 years. With the ability to consolidate sEMG, Neuraltherm and HRV into a single overall impression, Dr. Kipp can make an extremely accurate measure of your baseline neurospinal health, determine care recommendations and track your progress through your chiropractic care plan. To find out your COREscore, contact our Encinitas chiropractic office!
